UHH group discounts

Hey, this post is for administration and the group of UHH'ers. Why don't we, as a group, see if we can get special discounts on photo equipment when we buy in bulk. Or, special discounts on renting lenses. I think this would benefit everyone on the site.

Good idea, but we would all have to want the same product, and we would have to hope that a dealer could supply that many. First, we would have to decide what the item would be. It would have to be expensive enough that the dealer could give us a discount and still make a profit. Then we have to consider the pricing control that manufacturers have over their retailers. Maybe 42nd St Photo could give us a good deal on gray market gear.

I can see allkinds of problems with this, from a sellers point of view. Just a few--Who is amember of UHH and how do you prove it? The profit margin is so tight that any trim would hurt the stores even more. Uhh would have to issue some kind of ID card. It would negate the MSRP for official dealers. Why only UHH members. why not members of all photo forums. Forget it. It ain't gonna happen

I think it's a great idea and we should work how to make it happen rather than listing all the reasons it won't work. It would seem to me that we, through Admin, could work out getting a 10% off on equipment if we mentioned we're part of UHH.

I, personally, don't need any new equipment, but i think it's a great idea for all.

Proving membership is not an issue. There are no requirements for membership. So if you know about the UHH discount, then by definition you are a member.

I would like to see a "spot sale" in the pop up ads. Why not? We are definitely a captive audience. We won't get it if we don't ask.
