Replacing the LCD protective cover on the 6D

I cracked the protective cover on my LCD screen. I watched a couple of youtube videos on how to replace it. I ordered the new protector and a suction cup. I have tried to remove the protector tonight, but it's not coming off easily. I am afraid if I overheat the protective cover I will damage my camera. I am afraid if I pull too hard I will break the LCD screen Has anyone done this before? How warm does the protective cover need to be to get the glue to melt? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Use a hair dryer on medium (pinpoint or very small tip if possible) to gently heat the perimeter of the cover; heat softens the glue. Don't try to remove the cover all at once. If you start at one point and go around, the glue will have cooled by the time you get to your starting place. As you go around slowly, insert toothpicks to hold the cover off the frame. Work slowly and methodically pushing the toothpicks in until the cover is free. I suggest toothpicks because the wood will not harm the perimeter material or the cover.
