Question re. print packages
To those who offer print packages: do you print in house or have a "pro lab" do your printing?
??? Is it because of print size or something else?

Lr CC accommodates this in the print module. If I have several to do, I do it myself, if I have hundreds, I send it out. For example, I took a team photo this afternoon and I need 12 5" x 7" copies. I will do this myself. Easy Peasy and the team member will have their photos tomorrow. My printer, an Epson P800, can accommodate up to 17" wide paper so I have many possibilities for doing my photos in-house. Hope this helps.
Well, given that this is the Wedding Photgraphy Forum, I was referring to those that primarily shoot weddings.

My answer doesn't change! Although I do not do many weddings anymore, I did not normally sell or market print "packages"; mostly single prints in groups of larger sizes or in albums (books). When you say "print packages" to me I take it to mean various sizes all printed on the same piece of paper. Sorry, I was not thinking weddings. When I made wedding prints I preferred to make them myself, carefully choosing both the paper and the image specifics. For me, this is similar to my portrait work. If you have detailed questions, I'd be happy to assist. Please PM me. Best of luck.

Lab, always the lab. When I think hard about it.......yup, the lab.
When I had my darkroom, I would print my own. Even though I have a nice Epson that does 13x19, and my event printer, I just prefer the look and feel of a quality lab print. It could be the paper, but if you get too wrapped up in really nice paper, you could probably print for less at a lab. What kills me is shipping on smaller orders, so what I do is tell people that it takes 2-3 weeks to get prints back, so I can combine other orders together. Meridian charges a flat $7.95 shipping, whether your order $1 or $1000, so it pays to combine orders. If people don't want to wait, I charge them extra, to cover the cost of what it would cost me to ship their order, and someone else's order. *(I call it a rush charge)
