Well, I got in a bit of a pickle myself doing this one. The reflection was surprisingly difficult until I realised the reflected jar was foreshortened.
What do you think of it?

For me the reflection distracts from the main subject which is which unique and well done.

I like it too. Very creative use of reflections.

Please do not base your acceptance of your art on other's opinions. Your art is for you. That you like it is what ultimately matters.

Only half the challenge without the reflection Frank, but I see your point. Did you download to view? I think it needs to be in order to see it properly - and against a dark surround will show detail not otherwise obvious.

Thanks JD. I find critique enlightening and encouraging but when I'm happy with my work, I know it. Most of what I get from FYC is helpful, but one doesn't have to act upon it. I agree, personal choice is what it comes down in the end.

This a very unique and creative concept. I like it very much, Dave. Just to point out a couple of issues that you're probably already aware of, and the issues are not a deal breaker whatsoever. On the download I noticed a couple of streaks on the reflection part of the jar extending out of the left side. I'm not sure what the intent of the streaks, if any at all. The reflection itself seems to be rather long (top to bottom) and maybe needs to be shorten? By shortened, I mean not so much showing as in extension. Hope that make sense. You should be commended for your efforts which can be a difficult task I'm sure. Whats most striking is the creativeness that flows from the mind and while anyone could ever sleep at night to dream up an idea for a composite is maybe a concept on its own. A job well done Dave and I really look forward to the next.

Your skill and imagination are running neck and neck in the front of the pack. Not a wall-hanger subject, but plenty good enough for the coffee table.

I debated those arcing lines with myself Dave, and decided to leave than in to show where the base (or floor) of the set-up was. The jar is standing on the induction hob of our oven. Those lines show where to stand the saucepan. They probably only work for me, because I know what they are.
So, the reflection is as taken (with the jar part filled with vinegar). To get the whole jar with a shorter reflection I could have raised the camera angle - that may have made a better composition. The other option, and perhaps one I'd prefer would be to forget the reflection and make the jar bigger in the frame - which would enhance the distortion effect on the man within.
Thanks for you ideas Dave - by the way, I don't sleep much at night!

No, don't think anyone will want it on the wall Neil! It was just a challenge to create, and I do like that sculpture! Many thanks for your comments.

Thanks for further explanations Dave. By doing so made the task much clearer to me. I agree, if you know what the lines are/were then they should probably stay. I would also think you should keep the reflection in, as it enhances the overall image, IMO !!! Again, thanks for the further explanation. I now have a better understanding, which doesn't change my opinion of the concept, but does reflect more appreciation to the idea of the overall finished image.
Dave

Edit: One thing I just notice is that at the top where the head and the top ring of the jar needs a little work. The sculpture appears to be outside of the jar where the rest of the body has the appearance of being placed inside. Its only visible on the download.

This is disturbing and intriguing. As well as imaginative. Technically you'll get more helpful feedback from Dave Chinn but I did want to acknowledge my response. You're coming up with some fascinating creations and I'm enjoying the front row seat.

Looks believable overall, the top of the head above the vinegar and below the cap might could use some adjustment to make it look more "inside" but you have to look kinda hard to start questioning it.

I think that's come about from darkening the head area in a lazy way - it was 1a.m.! I did that on a separate layer so can probably improve - thanks for pointing that out.

Never make comment on an image without first downloading Dave, along with Dave's arching lines there is also a white spec on the fingers of the reflection that to me doesn't fit, all just my opinion and what do I really know.......I stand by my statement of unique and well done Sir!!
