North Korea, the most isolated country in Asia, has allowed Western Journalists to report on the birthday celebration and founder of the Communist Nation. Grandfather of the current leader. The Military Parades and ceremonies are indeed impressive. North Korea has a million man standing Army. President Eisenhower ended the Korean War. I visited the Korean and Vietnam Memorials in DC in 2015. I know some Korean War Veterans today. Here we go again. There has to be a peaceful solution to this crisis. Somehow, someway.

Grandchildren are of military age. Am praying with everything I have that this can be settled in a peaceful manner.

DPRK may want the rest of the world to believe they have a 1 million man army but to adequately arm, supply and feed that many soldiers costs a lot of money that North Korea does not have. They are very good at producing paper machete parades in hopes of impressing the world with their invincible military might but they are mostly hungry and ill equipped. What their fat boy leader fails to recognize is there's an Ohio class submarine somewhere in the Pacific Ocean that has every major city and military instalation in NK programmed into a targeting computer and when called upon, can and will reduce North Korea to a virtual waste land.

Military Service is a choice today, even for your grandchildren. The Draft ended in the early 1970s, under President Nixon. Many forget though, that 30,000 Americans died in the Korean War.

You would think the North Korean Leader Kim Jung Un would know that. His behavior is so erratic. The South Korean Military is no slouch either. They have 625,000 Active Duty Personnel, 3 million Reservists. They have mandatory military service for all males between the ages of 20-38 for a 21-24 month hitch. And lastly, there are currently 28,000 American Troops there. His last test missiles landed just 300 nautical miles from the coast of Japan. North Korea would surely lose, if they attempted to start a war with the U.S.

Im betting on the NK Military "retiring" their Dear Leader before any war starts.

That's possible. A Military Coup would be a lot easier. I don't think he has any brothers that would step up to the plate if that happens. His Generals are loyal to him. He already had one stepbrother zapped in Malaysia. And one of his trusted Generals has disappeared completely. It may not happen soon enough though.

North Korea did indeed launch a missile today, but it failed, according to South Korean Intelligence. And later News Reports.

That's going to cost a few of those newly promoted Generals dear.

Spent a year in that hellhole. It seems that we veterans of this "Conflict" were also forgotten until the memorial was in place.

Not with the current leadership. There might not be actual good will, but lets hope the missiles don't start flying. This latest Korean leader is the worst in years. His goal is to develop a missile that can reach the USA. When he gets that, it will be a game changer.

"Nuclear war" and "WW III" have been very popular Google topics lately.

But - although we can turn North Korea into a wasteland if they fire the first nuclear shot, they will not. Owning a few nukes is a deterrent - they know it will keep us from invading them. I was impressed at all those WWII rifles their soldiers had marching in the parade - BUT - they do have 50,000 artillery pieces within striking distance of Seoul, and even if they only have two shells for each, they would lay waste to Seoul before conceding defeat in a conflict. And THEN - we would be responsible for providing for all those hungry masses of starving, uneducated people! Better to maintain the status quo - but it would be great if China could smack fat boy around a little bit...

China provides nearly 50% of all food needed by North Korea. There's a single Bridge that connects China to North Korea, with a continuous flow of large supply trucks. The North Korean leader buys this food to maintain his military and government. While most of the citizens are nearly starving. Strange, is that the leaders of China and North Korea have never met one another.

Why do you say that? Didn't he just have talks with China to ask for their help to keep NK under control? I think Trump, and everyone under him, would like to avoid a conflict. We aren't looking to start any fights, just limit them.
