As a hobbyist, it works for me. I just use it to correct my exposure flaws at this time. Not expensive and relatively easy to use.

Luminar has attracted the attention of Scott Kelby and KelbyOne. One of the luminaries (sorry, bad pun!) of the photo editing world is going to be adding Luminar to their/his portfolio. I think that speaks to the quality of the product. Also, Trey Ratcliff has been a proponent of Luminar ever since its pre-launch.

I own Luminar, and it keeps improving with every update.

I have Luminar and I am very happy with it.
Here is a link to discussion on Luminar here on UHH that I found using the "Search" function at the top of the page: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/search-topic-list?q=luminar&sectnum=0&username=

I am nearing the end of my evaluation period. I like it a lot. Since I am resistant to the catalog-or-else approach of Lightroom (which I also have) I am inclined to switch. Not perfect but I like it and for the most part it seems a lot easier to use an editor. Since that's all I want, not a full catalog system, that's good.

I like to learn to use different editors, sometimes for different approaches to an image. Perhaps eventually I will standardize but for now I like having choices. Luminar adds to my choices nicely without all the catalog BS.

I have exchanged a few Q&A (email) with them and they are very quick to respond and very good at understanding the question and tailoring the answer. I like that approach to customer service.

This is quick reply and not intended to be thorough or complete.

Luminar and the rest of Macphun products are a great enhancement to Photoshop and Lightroom., I use all the time and love it. Give it a try.

Just starting to use it. The presets are a big help in many of the menus.
So far so good.

This is my second reply.

I reached the end of the evaluation period so I bought it. I'm happy with it for the most part but I'm still learning to use it. Here are some small negatives I've discovered. The ones with an * have been confirmed with their support desk and have been turned in to their developers in case they want to add them. Their responses to emails are very fast and on-point. I find that's a rarity with most products.

There are many things about what it does and about the UI which I like but they are well articulated on their website and your preferences would be different anyhow. I think the how-to videos are exceptional, btw.

* It does not have a way to imitate the Sony in-camera Creative Styles as such.
It calls white balance "color temperature" but other than that, it's pretty much the same thing
* It does not accept incoming XMP so FastRawViewer is of much less use. LR, for example, can take the settings (via XMP) from FRV as a starting point.
It does a nice job of "masking" and making changes to a masked area but I just get lost and frustrated using it. That's on me, I guess. I did not find LR any easier.

Its performance on my computer is a bit slow even compared to LR. I'm talking mostly about time to load an image. Processing time for each change during editing is not impressive either. That said, my MacMini (2012) even with the I7, gobs of RAM and SSD is not fast by today's standards. The I7 in it was designed for laptops. This is not a big problem for me.
