Suggest you read up on it. Steve Perry has some videos explaining the difference and depending on what and how you are shooting, determines which one to use.

Auto-iso is a big help, especially if the lighting changes. And it is silent and won't record noise on the audio track. Any auto focus or change of aperture during the video will record noise and you may have to edit it out.

Thanks. I guess I could dedicate one of the 4 options on the D-800 & activate auto iso on that option?? as well as continuous focus vs single.

Personally, I always set the ISO where I want it and I always put it at the lowest ISO that I can get the shot I want at the shutter speed and/or aperture needed. The lower the ISO, the better the quality of the photo, especially with the D800 which falls quickly as you raise that ISO.
