I started this topic yesterday as an add-on.

Have you ever had three wheel cars in the States?
Here are some Fine examples of what we have enjoyed in the UK.

The trouble with having just one wheel in front is that they roll over too easily. One wheel in back is much better.

I managed to roll a Bond Bug once.17 at the time!
Having said that, the best car I have ever had for snow was the Reliant Robin.
Simply because it's pulling wheel was cutting through fresh snow and therefore, got a good grip.

I have never had a three wheeled car but I had a tricycle gear tractor. There were actually four wheels but the two in front were on one steering column. I got rid of it because I started farming some land that had slopes and the tractor was unstable there. I did put a roll bar on it (manufacturers sold roll bars at cost to encourage people to install them). But I valued my neck more than the tractor.

I had a friend who had a three wheel car in the '50s. He was killed in a rollover. The single wheel was in the back.

I saw three wheel cars and dumptrucks in Japan in the early 70's.

Haven't owned one, but here's probably the best known of the 3 wheelers - a Morgan (new version). Personally, from an engineering perspective, I have never understood the rationale unless it's a tax issue. Not that much cost to add the 4th wheel, and the advantages in handling (and braking) are manifest.

You're absolutely right - Morgans are great cars (even the 3 wheelers 😎). I LOVE Morgans (and TVRs and Griffiths, and Ace Bristols, and...)

That Morgan takes some beating on and off road speed wise, there only about £35k a lot for me, but in the scope of things!

I ran into this Morgan at a local pub a couple of years ago. The guy who owns it said it was one of a few that actually survived the blitz during the war.

Wow, that's a lovely machine, I'd love a go in that!

They just look inherently unstable to me.

They may look it but believe me, they're not.

The vehicles with the one wheel in front, as i the pics I'd posted earlier, well that's a different ball game!
