Nokomis Drum Circle

Every Weds and Friday at Nokomis Beach there is an informal gathering drummers and listeners. Any where from 20 to 30 drummers up to 80 or more get together and just jam for a couple hours at sunset. The talent level is all over and one guy told me " We got no leaders and we got no rules". For some it's spiritual but for most of the folks it's just a party. My guess is the crowd can be well over 1,000 people, but fun is had by all. There's always a bunch of colorfull people in the middle of the circle dancing and just having fun.

C&C welcome

We have a drum circle in Sarasota as well. Going on right now, Sunday evening. Nice captures; great photo op.

Wow, what a really neat gathering, I just love the whole idea, and I love the pics. I would love to attend, but Nokomis Beach is a long ways from Arizona

In the 60s we would call this a happening.

My wife and I have been visiting Casey Key for 30 years. We are always there in May and November. We love staying on the Key and listening to the drums on the weekends. I remember when there were only 10 drums used. It has grown immensely popular. I sometimes hate the internet because this key was the best kept secret for years. Well done on the photos.

Thanks for stopping by and the compliment. Casey Key is one of the most beautifull places I have been, no doubt you've dined at the Casey Key Fish House then? One of my favorites out of many down here.

Yes, love the calamari salad and the burgers. I like Pelican Alley for the Ambiance. Wife loves their mud slides with real ice cream.
