Back when I belonged to a club and we had pretty serious monthly tournaments, I always wondered what we'd do if one of the members dropped dead in the middle of a fairway. Just what kind of hazard would he be considered?

How long did it take before he actually got to play his next stroke?

I think pipesgt should give credit to where he gets all his funny pictures--daily e-mails from Odd Stuff Magazine.

Recommend strengthening your grip and using your Mashie niblick.

OHH.......Hell no. I hit a ball in the rough one time, when I reached down to get a King Coral snake slithered over it, the ball stayed where it was and I used another one.

I certainly don't mean to suggest your father in law doesn't like you, but!

I lived in Southeast NC for 13 years. We had "dudes" like that in our backyard sitting on the banks of a brackish water lake. On the nearby golf courses, taking a drop to avoid sleeping alligators, was a common occurrence. Most of us lived to tell about it. Attached is one from our "backyard".

Isn't that the" throw a dead chicken in the water and play thru" situation?

Don't think I'd want to use a putter to get him to move, so I would use a driver. Hit him and run. If he moves the ball as he chases me would that count as a stroke? But then again, if he catches me, I'd have a stroke anyway.

Actually not. I've forgotten the exact terminology, but the alligator would be considered outside interference and not count against the golfer. It's possible that the ball would have to be returned to the original spot, however.

Actually Steve, the rule states to take a free drop from the nearest point of relief (a safe distance away), no closer to the hole. No penalty stroke. I've had that situation several times. Of course, we all laughed.
