Two shots of the State Capitol and Capitol Mall lawn -- one from July 2015 when the drought was at its worse and the Governor wouldn't allow watering, and the second from yesterday, after the most recent deluge of this very wet water year.

Amazing what some rain will do. Yet they still want to call it a drought. Ever see a government regulation actually go away once it's in place?

I was down at the American River near Watt Ave the other day and the water is scary high. I was going to take pics but it was raining so hard I decided against taking my gear out in it. Nice shots of the Capitol.

The grass be brown again in just 6 months. Years ago I visited a southern California Dessert after excessive rains. There were many miles of beautiful wild flowers. I went back 6 months later. Gone. If you go to Washington State and Tennessee, and all you see are hillsides and landscapes smothered with greenery. A shock to any Californian. Unless you get close to the Oregon border, green doe not exist. Then comes our annual summer Wildfires, Statewide.

yes, there's no rain in the summer so everything does turn brown around here but the difference the last few years was strips like in front of the Capitol weren't being watered at all

I lived in Sacramento for a time... I went to high school there at C.K.Mc Clatchy.
