Vibration Control (VC) failure.

My 70 - 300mm Tamron lens lost control of its vibration control function last Friday just before Memorial Day weekend!
I mailed it off to the Tamron repair facility in NY that Saturday. I figured I'd be without that lens for weeks.
NOT so! It showed up via UPS on my door step this Thursday afternoon repaired, cleaned and adjusted. That annoying zoom creep has been eliminated. . at least for a while.
All covered under the USA, six year warrantee. Nice job well done.

This was the final image taken before the VC went south.

Thanks. Good to hear stories about outstanding service from quality mfgs like Tameron.

Great shot too!

I've been trying to decide between Tamron and Sigma. I think you just leaned me towards Tamron.

Osprey look sharp to me.Oh and did you tell Tamron they did a great job? Everyone could use a pat on the back occasionally.

Both Tamron and Sigma stand behind their products plus turn around time is excellent. I know this from others that have had to use them, luckily not myself so far. They want to compete with the "Big Boys" and since they have gotten the inaccurate reputation of making inferior lens they make it up W/O a doubt in customer service.........

I think in the long run customer service can make or break you. Too many companies tend to forget this. You never buy a product thinking it will fail but .................

Sure did thank Tamron. tested their work and found that the lens still auto-focuses perfectly and the VC is holding rock stable.

I find myself using this particular lens most of the time, probably 85% of the time. It seems to fit my imaging interests. I can shoot close up or go for the distance image.

I'll shift to my 18-70mm Nikon when I need to get closer.

That's why my 18-200 stays on my camera. :-D
