Adorama sent me a sale email a few days ago. They had a Tokina 11-20 /f2.8 lens for Canon EF (not EF-S) for a good price. Clicking on the ad took me
to their web page where, again, it listed the lens mount as Canon EF. Nowhere in both pages there was a mention of full frame/APS-C.
I still had my doubts so I had a chat with a representative who assured me the lens will work with my full frame 5D.
First thing I saw when the lens arrived was that it's for ASP-C sensors! The package went back after a talk to Adorama that gave me
a return label. Next I got credit for the full amount minus shipping charges as it's stated in their return policy. Today I talked to them and
asked for a refund of the shipping charge because their representative had told me, erroneously, that the lens works with my sensor.
The charge was indeed refunded today.

Two things - 1) Adorama is a reputable, dependable store and I'll buy from them again.
2) This was partly my fault as I should have dug a bit deeper to make sure I'm buying the right item.

All's well that ends well.

CR, no harm no foul, BUT, NO, It is in NO way your fault. There should be no need to dig. If you know nothing about photography or lenses, you would not even have an idea that you need to dig!
I'm a fan of Adorama over it's competitors, but some of these big businesses miss typos on the ad copies and it goes out with a mistake. That's NOT your fault. I have a business and if I had done that I would have given you a $25 gift certificate for your trouble, because it WAS trouble on your end. Certainly these Multimillion dollar companies doing business worldwide could at least figure out to do THAT!!! You're a very forgiving and gracious customer!!! I applaud you.

Agree. All companies, regardless of how good, will occasionally screw up. In this case Adorama, true to their reputation ended up doing the right thing. But it also indicates, as the OP admitted, that we all should be more self reliant and do the research BEFORE purchasing.

An educated consumer is a happy consumer.
I believe the full name of that lens is Tokina 11-20 f2.8 PRO DX for Canon. It does have Canon EF mount and should mount on a Canon Full Frame body. It just won't work too well with the larger sensor.

I was so sorry to read that you were inconvenienced and I'd like to follow up. Please can you email me: Helen@adorama.com with more details so that I can bring this to the attention of the marketing email design team?

I apologise for the inconvenience caused, and very much look forward to hearing from you.

I have a bad habit when I purchase high end items of looking on at least 3 different sellers sites and reading all the information and feedback on each (my own OCD hell). But even with that I have ordered the wrong thing occasionally. Adorama is a good company and as long as they corrected it; no harm, no foul. By the way I own one of those lenses with a Nikon mount and use it on a Nikon d7200. It's a great lens and a shame they don't make a full frame version.

Actually the salesman was NOT totally wrong. That lens WILL mount on your 5D and work just fine. It is ONLY Canon brand EF-S lenses that will not mount on your camera because Canon intentionally cripples those lenses to prevent their mounting. The only downside to the Tokinas is that it will vignette on your full frame sensor as its projected image will not cover the full frame sensor at the wider end of its zoom. Still, it should not have been "recommended" as a proper fit due to the vignetting.

It is commonly known that APC-S lenses, say from Tokina or Sigma will work just fine on full frame Canon cameras, as they do use the EF mount on their lenses!

What the hell kind of question is that? Do you not understand what I meant by that statement? Are you really that dense ? I really thought about just ignoring your stupid ass, but I am really tired of people like you and your stupid little quips and questions. If you have a problem with what I said, then move on to the next post !! Have a great day!!!
