Any UHH members with experience dealing with Abe's of Maine? The have a good price on the Canon 5D Mk IV.
Check the archives ... UHH members mostly suggest running away from Abe's.
I have purchased two Canon cameras from these folks -- End of 2009 - 5dMkii for $2,700 when it was selling @ B&H for 3,200 & just recently - Nov 2016 - the Canon 5DS for $2,999 -- B&H price $3,500 --- Both Cameras have the full USA warranty - plus all the standard Canon in box stuff - software/manuals/plugs & wires & of course the box ---- My advice is to not "assume" anything with good ole Abes -- talk to their representative to make damn sure your getting what you expect and would most assuredly get from say B&H -- Example: They were listing the 5DS for 2,499 - (now as I see they are listing it @ 2,299) However for my price of 2,499 all you got was the camera it's self no software, no manual, no wires & probably no box ---- I of course wanted all the traditional comes in the box stuff & was happy to pay the additional $500 ---
By the way one --- Great Camera ---- Another suggestion -- Purchase using a Credit Card so "IF" you don't get what you expected to get you then can dispute --- Yes I would purchase again -- But don't assume your dealing with a B&H
Forgot about the battery & Charger -- also got those
I bought a simple little compact camera from them. They delayed shipping it until I called their representative who had a 'question' about my order. The 'question' was did I want to add the extended warranty, 'recommended' memory card, additional batteries, 'special' neck strap etc. No hard sell, the representative was just reading off a script, but the delivery was delayed nearly a week. Product was genuine.
I purchased a D80 there several years ago. I had a problem with the camera and they replaced it with a new one free of any charges with another new one. Both units came in factory sealed packaging with all accessories and US warranty. I was very satisfied with them.
I noted that their website now claims they are a "Canon Dealer."

I just checked Canon's latest authorized dealer list as of 10/28/16, and unless they're listed with a name other than Abe's, they're not on it.

B&H is a much better deal!
Never buy from Abe's of Maine ... crooked bait and switch operation. You don't even want to know the details.

I recommend staying away from Abe's of Maine. Recently I have been shopping for a Canon 100-400 f4.5-5.6 L IS Mk II lens. Abe's had one a new one listed for $1600+ whereas most of the other big grey market sellers were listing it for $1800+, or more. Their listing included the rather standard description of the lens, its specs, and accessories. Thinking that I would receive a factory-sealed box with all accessories that would be the same as sold by all other retailers, I ordered the lens online. Almost immediately I received a phone call from "Jeff" attempting to get me to pay approximately $250 more for the "retail" version of the lens, which according to him, would include the tripod ring & mount, lens hood, pouch and other accessories not included in the "value" edition that (he claimed) I had ordered. Regardless of my insistence that these items are standard and sealed in the box with all such lenses from the factory, he nonetheless argued throughout that I was wrong. His apparent opinion of my ignorance and naiveté, and his steadfast lying, pissed me off to the point that I demanded that my order be cancelled. Much to my relief they did cancel the order, and at my request confirmed the cancellation with an email to that effect, though it was accompanied with a rather snide remark.
This was a pure and unmitigated example of bait-and-switch sales practices. IMHO, Abe's of Maine falls into the same category with 42nd St. Photo, which has achieved such wide-spread notoriety here on UHH.
If it sounds too good to be true. It usually is.
I've purchased three Tamron lenses from Abes over the past couple of years, because they offered the best price. All transactions were smooth and trouble free. All told I saved about $500 by buying from them. Not a Maine business anymore, but still a good deal, and I'd buy from them again.
