If I want to create cords using my photos, ie. note cards or thank you cards using some of my shots what company do you suggest I look at?

For pre-made cards, just stick in the photo, Photographer's Edge. To print everything yourself, Red River paper sells card stock & has free templates for Lr. Best of luck.

I had some cards printed at Vista Print. I wanted to print with just my picture and no words. It was either the wedding invitations or the thank you cards. Order the minimum at first. They will probably send you an email right after you order offering a discount if you order more.

Right. I've done quite a bit of that without Photographer's Edge. I'll take a look at that. I also print bookmarks for the local library. Once you get a template setup, you can make lots of changes.

If you want to create and print your own, Red River Paper has a variety of photo papers that are already scored for folding, and they also sell envelopes the right size for that paper.

You don't really need a template. For instance, I like the A7 size which is 7x10, folds to 5x7. I use LR which does not have 7x10 in its menu, so I use 8x10 and make sure the image is centered and far enough from the edges. Then you can use the image templates, for instance, I made a custom template for 2-4x6 prints on a page (some of the other templates will not let you put 2 different ones in the boxes). Then after clicking on that template, I drag a picture to its position - for landscape orientation it goes on the bottom of the page, for portrait orientation it goes at the top (rotate it in library first). The other box can be highlighted and deleted.

This also allows putting a logo on the back if you want. Or more pictures.

If you want to create and print your own, Red Rive... (show quote)

Red River Paper also offers templates and instructions on making your own. At first it may seem daunting, but once you get it done you will become your own expert. With a little practice, it's fairly quick and easy to place what you want where you want it and to save a template to do that same thing again, or modify it to do something else. I wouldn't consider myself an expert here at this point but I have been experimenting, and I think I'm beginning to get it! It can be fun! Best of luck

I do not use the templates because the text box they put on the card back has something on it, cannot remember exactly what, but I seem to remember it is the name of the company that designed the templates. I wanted to put my own logo on the back... Worth checking out - perhaps they have changed it since I first downloaded those templates.

I am 'messing' with those templates myself. My guess, at this point, is that can be changed or removed. When I saw it, I ASSUMED it was meant for you to enter any information or logo you wanted, but I'm not that far yet! From what I know of Red River, I don't think they would restrict you to putting someone else's credit on the back of your card. Let me know what you find out as well. PM would be fine. Best of luck.

You got my curiosity working, so I just looked to see for myself. There is a logo for a greeting card company, and it cannot be highlighted to remove. The text box itself will not delete. However, I decided to change its size, smaller and smaller, and eventually it folded in on itself and disappeared! So it can be gotten rid of.

You will still have to do the page setup as I described earlier: 8x10 paper, center your photo and leave space around the edges to allow for that extra 1/2 inch on each side.

Something is not 'jiving'. The purpose of those templates, or at least I thought, was to make this process automatic, more or less, for the paper size you are printing to. I know there is some basic setup work you have to do, but I can't be exact. A thorough knowledge of the print module is very helpful and I just re-did my training on that (Laura Shoe's videos combined with Kelby's book) so I'm raring to go, now all I need is the time!

Perhaps your printer does allow for 7x10 paper, but mine does not have that size in its listing. And the image is not placed centrally, you have to do that by dragging it to where you want it. Luckily the "page" is marked with a grid so you can easily see where the middle is, in both directions. Get busy with some cards, and have fun!
