Mirrorless
Is anyone using a mirrorless camera? If so which one, and what do you love about it. If not and you know about them, please chime in. I don't ask for much do I. I would like this body purchase to be my last for the next few years.
Thanks.
Jamie
Panasonic GX8 with a Lumix 14-140 and Lumix/Leica 100-400.
I like size, weight, versatility and that it is good for both still images and video.
FWIW, the subject has been discussed so frequently and thoroughly you really should search and read. Then, ask a more specific question for a thread topic.
Are you looking for full frame or crop sensor? Sony has several good crop sensor cameras such as the a6000, a6300, and the a6500. Panasonic makes the GH4, GH5, and GX8. Olympus has some good ones too. And Canon just released a crop sensor named the M5. One of the best full frame mirrorless is Sony's 42 megapixels, a7r2. To be superseded by the a7r3 in the near future.
I switched to a Fuji X-T1 2 1/2 years ago. Great camera and solid lenses.
I've never looked back.
I recently bought a Panasonic G7 and have many M.Zuiko lenses. There have been some good sales on the G7 lately and it is a lot of camera for the money, with lots on fun features. While not as rugged as some, or weatherproof, it feels good in hand, is very customizable and I found it fairly easy to get comfortable with. I'm waiting for the next sale on a PEN F. Many more lenses available from Olympus & Panasonic than from Sony.
Sony A6300 with 16-50mm and 55-210mm lenses. Switched to this after being a Canon user for many years. Main reason for change was weight and I couldn't be happier with this camera. Does everything my Canon did and more. Love being able to carry everything I need in a bag the size and weight of my purse.
The Sony a6000 while not the best, is a huge bargain for the price. Have built a system around it that includes adapters that allow me to use my Canon, Nikon, Minolta MD, and Maxxum lenses. While I would like the benefits an upgraded body would bring I can't justify the price as I have a great tripod. Point here Jamie, is the Sony a6000 does what you want your camera to do for me, but if you have the money consider the a6500.
for me with sony there were a few extra features, otherwise no big difference.
I have totally switched from Nikon to Sony. I have 2 cameras (a6000 and the a7II) and by the end of this year, probably a 3rd. (The new a7s, if it comes out). I love the electronic view finder, the weight, the auto focus is very fast, the 5 way stabilization, the low light capabilities. I shoot RAW and manual all the time and it is supper fast in getting the right exposure. Mine are all e-mount lenses and I have mostly Sony and Zeiss lenses, all very sharp. I do not have an adapter for the Canon lenses since I shot all Nikon prior to switching. I shoot fine art portraits, weddings and some landscapes. I shot Nikon for 45 years prior to switching so I took this switch very seriously. Love my Sonys.

I tried that and went back to Nikon DSLRs. To each his own.
Olympus. See signature.
Lighter, faster and quieter than a DSLR. IQ is just as good as a DSLR.

Yes, the best camera is the one you feel most comfy with. Im curious though, why did you go back?
Sony A6300 and A7rII. Switched from 20 years of Nikon cameras and lenses. I am older now and appreciate the size and weight difference . Love the Sony peroducts in general.

I just switched from Pentax K5iis to Fuji xe-2 with 27mm pancake lens. Exceptional build quality, small and compact. Great kit for hiking. Very sharp high quality lens selection
