Rancho Santa Margarita lake

Rancho Santa Margarita lake is a man made lake in the community of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. It offers the residents to circle the lake with a meandering path. Recently I learned about having something in the foreground of a landscape that the viewer can focus on. These rocks help frame the lower half of the photo and give it interest. Please download this image.

Good composition especially the slot in the bottom part of the rocks--between them framing the image the slot leads you down to the water. Excellent use of HDR.

Excellent image and HDR. The foreground rocks do indeed add interest and frame the background but, to me, they overpower the far shore and sky.

Thanks Larry for the nice comments. The real setting (before HDR) was quite different. The rocks were all dark and not much detail. The HDR really gives the foreground some detail that helps a lot. I tried to not overcook this one!

So, iDoc, you think the rocks are to strong and demand to much attention from the background and sky which you feel should be the main focus of attention, right? I do agree that the rocks do demand a lot of attention with all that detail in there.
iDoc, I have a question for you..........what is your avatar a photo of? I have often wondered and can't figure it out!

It's a selfie taken of my reflection in a large concave mirrored surface composed of fused, polished hexagonal(as I remember)stainless steel plates. It's in the Museum of National History in NYC.

Reviewing the image, the fused plates look more diamond shaped.
