Nova Scotia in the bleak mid-winter

After spending time in the Lunenburg County area last Fall, I returned over the holiday and experienced gale-force winds that made the surf wild and angry and snow storms/drifts that kept us inside for a couple of days. I discovered that winter landscapes have their own kind of beauty.

You captured the harsh landscapes and winter conditions most beautifully!

Winter sure does have its own beauty. Your images convey that very well.

Excellent set of photos that truly does express that winter scenes do not always have to be dreary and colorless. In this set I am especially fond of #4 because of the beautiful light and reflections. As I am looking at these we have the A/C on, and it is about 75 deg F outside.

Thanks TBell. I'm back home in Toronto where there's currently no snow but it is very cold. It's hard to imagine 75F but, as always, it will surely come again.

I like the composition in 1 and in 4 the colors reflected in the waves.

Thank you. The red reflection in the sea was quite something to see.

These scenes make me thankful we visited Nova Scotia this past August! Winter has its own beauty, but I saw enough of it while living in the heart of the Adirondacks!

Yes, cold, snow, ice and gale-force winds are not exactly holiday weather - unless of course you love outdoor winter sports.
