Other than the research by David Harasti with sea horses, is there any research on this subject? Human proximity to marine life could be seen as invasive but I'm looking for research specific to the use of flash with marine animals.
Have not read anything other than the seahorse stuff. Somewhat of a unique case as the seahorses like to stay attached where other critters will just swim away. That said if you feel you're stressing the animal stop and move on.
I realize any intrusion by a photographer may stress an animal. I was looking for more specific research on the potential harmful effects of flash on the vision of marine animals. So far, I've not come across any credible research...only the opinions of what may be overly-zealous animal rights activists.
