Well I like it. Nice detail on the right side (image view) with detail in the eye and 'orange peel' on the skin, and nice shadow on the left without losing detail. Sharp enough for hair to show up sharp. I might tried shooting a tad further away and get the whole head in, so long as I could stop the background coming into detail.

I like the concept and I like the eye! I am no expert on this kind of photo so am only talking from a "what I like" standpoint on the concept and framing. What I can say with one confidence is that the conversion is very good, and the sharply captured eye comes across as the center of interest. What I feel is missing - at least a part of her mouth. It feels like there is too much of her face to not have any of her mouth, which may make no sense at all. But I've already confessed this is an opinion, not a critique!!
I like the potential here, I miss the mouth - I like the sharp attention of the eyes. Next time, iPad gone or lower!

Dave, there is something I like about this image. I can't put my finger on it. The composition and exposure along with the B&W conversion is most of what I like, but there is something else, that I'm not going to fight it and just enjoy it.

Very good photo. I like the composition, tonal range (brought about through good exposure), and depth of field. Each used to accentuate the subject quite nicely.

My thanks to John, Frank, Min, Piet, Dave and Bob for commenting.
The framing of the eyes section is intentional and is what made me take the photograph. I tipped the camera to get the angle top left to right bottom - which seemed to add intensity? I could see it as an ad for cheap reading glasses!
Trust Frank to find the lake!
Happy New Year to you all.

Composition IS the impact!
eyeglasses on the perfect diagonal
Another, perpendicular diagonal separates the dark and bright sides of her face
And the focused eye the unquestioned C.O.I. !
'twould be far less without the contrast!
Impact 4.5
Tech 4.5
Composition 5
14/15
Great job!
Dave
For me the title is a little miss leading, but onto the photo. I find the reflection of the iPad distracting. So little of the face showing leaves you guessing to her reaction or lack of. The slanting picture frame in the background keeps pulling my eye. Maybe a shot from behind her would improve on the ideal, looking through her eyes. Without a title and explanation I would be loss. Like the ideal...
I'm guessing this more of an opinion than critique

Opinions are fine Martin, like to know what you think. A shot from behind might make the 'eye' thing a bit difficult though. Not to worry, some you like, some you don't. I do appreciate your commenting. Happy New Year.
