Just picked up a like new Nikon D7200 with 9725 shots. My Nikon D300 was getting long in the tooth. Was in mint condition with low mileage but just could not do low light.
Got the Nikon D7200 yesterday and boy is it nice. First thing I noticed right off the bat was the screen resolution. WOW! Menus are more detailed so I am gong to have to read the manual. A friend was always singing the praises of his Nikon D7100 so when I saw Nikon D7200 deal I jumped on it. Got it from a very nice gentleman who used it for 10 months then went full frame. I am currently going to use it with my trusty Sigma 28mm 2.8 Wide manual lens. I found I got more in focus photos shooting manual than with AF but this was on the Nikon D300. This new camera may be a different story .............

Yes, that is a very nice camera, and buying used or refurbished saves a lot of money.

What does the word manual mean in your description? "Sigma 28mm 2.8 Wide manual lens."
Is the D7200 as light/heavy as the D300?
Have fun,
Marion

You should be able to fine tune the focus of the sigma in your d7200 if you still have issues. There are many tutorials explaining how to do it.

The D200 and D300 going away from the N80 body style used in the D100 and they are quite nice. I am thinking of getting either the D200 or D300.

Manual focus, manual aperture used in either full manual or aperture priority modes.

So, when you say, "I found I got more in focus photos shooting manual than with AF", you're comparing your MF Sigma with other lenses. Maybe the AF function was off a little. Have fun, and keep shooting.

Definitely the lens.
Sigma 50mm 1.4 ex dg hsm
Was unpredictable. Should have read reviews BEFORE I bought it.
Sold it and good riddance.

After cycling through several Nikon cameras over the years, I recommend getting a new or used copy of Darrell Young's "Mastering the Nikon D7200". I've tried other authors (David Busch for example). Getting Young's book on the D90 many years ago gave me insights that made the camera much more versatile.

No focus motor in lens, D7200 has motor in camera.

No focus motor in the equation, it is a manual lens.

Been playing around with my new Nikon D7200 I acquired Friday and so far I am more than satisfied. Kicks my old Nikon D300's butt.
Worth every penny I paid for it.

PROS

Lighter
Photos clearer
Low light noise not even an issue
Love the button layout over the Nikon D300
Uses readily available SDHC memory, not the elusive compact flash
Much faster
Rear LCD much brighter and clearer
Quieter
Battery has a release lever to prevent accidental battery loss

CONS

Does not use the same batteries as my old Nikon D300 so I have to buy new extras
No longer has a snap on rear LCD protector, but neither do any new cameras
Was not free
