I just sold my beloved Nikon D300 Body. Can anyone who has used the Nikon D7200 give me their experience. Considering buying a D7200 Refurb or D700 FX. How much better are the D7200 or D700 over the D300?

Thanks Much

I still have my D300, but am enjoying my D7200. Have not missed anything yet.

A few years ago, I did a test between the D7000, D300s and D700. The D300s faired badly in high ISO compared to the other two. The D7000 was almost as good as the D700. With all the improvements, I bet the 7200 would be as good now.
As far as ergonomics go, I prefer the layout of the D700 and D300. To me, the D7xxx series button layout is awkward. I have both the D800 and 810 at work but would still consider buying a D700 for my personal stuff that my Fuji can't handle. (or the new D500)

If you don't have FX lenses the D700 is worse than the D300.

If the D7200 were a vehicle it would be a Tacoma. Solid, go anywhere and get it done.

If you are going to upgrade anyway, why not consider the d500 as well. I have the d7200 and upgraded to the d500 and now I very rarely use the d7200, it is now a backup camera.

We also sold our D300 and replaced it with a D7200. The D7200 certainly out performs the D300. It cost us about $400 difference for a referb camera. We also have a D700 and a D800 and D810. None of which are back ups to any of the other. The one we use depends upon what we need them for. All four are great in low light. All four of them produce great pictures. Each are worth varying amounts of money. Either of them will get the shots done. We stayed a Dx camera to replace the d300 because we had some very good dx lenses. For most people the difference between the D700 and the D7200 is just a matter of what are your goals. If you only print 8x10's with moderate cropping, there should be no difference between the two. If weight is your limiting factor then the D7200 is your choice. If dependability and toughness is important than the D700 (which is actually a D3 in a light weight body) should be your choice. Hope this helps. Leon

The D7100 is just as good, but lacks an adequate buffer for continuous shooting. The D750 has almost a cult status with superior performance in many areas. Read reviews and watch YouTube comparison reviews. If you can afford a D500, by all means get Nikon's new APS-C top dog with joy stick, etc.

I purchased D7200 for Wildlife, Sunrise/Sunsets, and Landscape, basically everything. I loved the camera so much but got tired of switching lenses, so I bought another one.
You'll love it. If you are still undecided, rent one and see how you like it for yourself !
Good Luck in your decision and good shooting !!

The 7200 would be a logical and safe upgrade that you would appreciate. The 700 is a great upgrade too, but is a different animal because it is FX, full frame, that is suited for full frame, more expensive lenses.
The D500 is a DX camera to consider.

I would love to have a D500 and would not even think about it but the D500 is twice the money I have to spend. BUMMER!
