Hi all,

I'm looking for a replacement of the strap that came with my Canon 5D Mk3. I have the 24-105/f4L lens, battery grip and GPS module.
I've looked online and it's truly confusing. There're lots of choices there, B&H alone lists over a thousand items.
Some of the choices are - BlackRapid RS-2 Sport 2, Peak Design Slide Camera Strap SL-T-2, BosStrap.
My needs are comfortable wear (wide padded), adjustable length (I'm not tall!), sling capability and maybe something that also
looks good.

What would you recommend based on your experience?

Thanks, Sam

Op/Tech hits all your demands except for maybe the "looks good" - to me, it is not the best looking strap around.

Sam, you'll get the usual load of strap referrals. I'll toss mine in, as well.

Best company with whom I've ever dealt. Great product quality, and better than excellent customer support.

For us girls, I like Capturing Couture straps, they are very good quality, comfy, and they look awesome. They sell them on Amazon and on their own website:

Sam I do agree with the Op/Tech sling strap. It has all your needs and you can even design one. I had a Black Rapid that screwed into my camera. It is a good thing I am use to holding onto it as the screw came loose and my camera would have fallen. The Op/Techs designed to attached in two places and their security bands makes your camera and lens really safe. It is worth a look happy shopping.

I use the Black Rapid with my Pentax K 5 with battery grip. It works very well, when I put it on the right way! If I'm using a big zoom, like the f2.8 Tokina, I mount the strap to the lens' tripod mount, to reduce stress on the camera. Black Rapid makes a QR for my Manfrotto tripod head, since the loop on the standard QR plate is not intended to carry the weight of the camera and a big, all metal lens.

I have an OpTech on my Pentax 645n and also on my Bronica S2a, which is one heavy brute! The padding makes life much more comfortable.

I too use Op/Tech USA straps and connectors. They make all types and they work and are very comfortable and versatile and come in a gazillion colors.

I used to use the BlackRapid strap, but I did like that it attached to the camera at the tripod socket. So I switched to OpTech which attaches to the strap lugs.

. I recently replaced my nikon straps with Op/Tech USA, bought regular one and the sling. I liked them, comfortable and not expensive.

These suit your requirements and are almost the perfect strap in my opinion. Made in the USA as well and priced under $30

Thank you all UHH fellows who helped me choose a strap/sling. I'm going with the op/tech utility version, looks good and it's inexpensive to boot!

I'll let you know if the strap works well for me.

Thanks, Sam

I use two items both from OpTechUSA. Prostrap and their sling. You can buy diect and they have an outlet store so you can save about half.

I like the looks and the function of the OP/TECH, so there!

I especially like the quick disconnect and the way all the bits and pieces they make fit together. Once those little pieces are attached to the camera, I can add long or short straps, depending on the situation. The large, grippy foam shoulder pad is perfect for me. I also like the way the shoulder pads come in different colors. I can tell the cameras apart at a glance.

I've been using Op/Tech for years. Works for me, I'm short too!
