Mirror-less system

I asked a couple of weeks ago about Canon's full frame mirror-less body plans. The consensus among UHH folks was that Canon will not have a FF body soon but will come up with an ASP-C model in the next few days. So, here's my question - is it worth waiting for the Canon system (body and lenses since my L lenses may not work well with the mirror-less) or should I move to a Fuji, Olympus, etc system?

Thanks, Sam

Personally, I think that, for the most part, SLRs are an anachronism. More about state of the art film cameras as th digital technology amen about. And, it took development of high quality screens to view on for mirrorless to reach, and now start to surpass mirror tech.

I'm sure that in your previous post related to this someone must have pointed out that if you switch to a totally different camera Make that you will be setting yourself up for a whole new set of expenses related to Lenses !? .......Unless the Canon Mirrorless will absolutely require a whole new set of lenses as you say may happen!
In which case I would suggest you study Makes that are familiar with Mirrorless and not focus on the Two big Boys who are trying to play catch-up just as a Sales Pitch !

Why wait for Canon? If Canon ever make the mirrorless FF system they will introduce a new lens mount so you can't use any of your current lenses without adapter any way. When you attach your current lenses with the adapter the mirrorless camera isn't going to be much smaller nor lighter than the SLR.
The reason that they have to introduce new lens mount because if they use the current EF lenses the camera won't be any smaller than the SLR.

Check out the new Canon M5 when it arrives. Full frame Canon mirrorless camera? I haven't heard anything on that yet.

That is entirely up to your, but if I absolutely wanted a mirrorless camera, I'd probably go with the Sony A series body. I say this because I know several people that own the A6000 and love it. But I'm still not sold on mirrorless because I don't care to hold a camera away from my face at arms length to view an LCD to compose my shot and the viewfinders are weird and slow. I'm sure that technology will eventually catch up to my needs for a mirrorless camera, but they have not done so yet. Yes, the sensors are fine, I don't like the viewfinder. Also, saving a few ounces isn't really going to make that much difference to me. If I had shoulder problems or worse back problems than I already have, I may be forced to go with a camera that is as light as possible. Already cell phone cameras are pretty good and to be sure, way better than they were 5 years ago. So the technology is changing very fast.

Most of the people on this thread have no idea of what they are talking about from an industry or technology perspective and are just voicing their own jaundiced opinions.

Whether or not Canon produces a decent mirror less or not, we only have a few days to wait. And if you already posted on this thread before I did, most of you know who you are!

Jeez! Why Don't you wait a few days to see how good or stupid your opinions are? You can't prove how good they are today, but you can provide evidence for the other situation.

Have you ever looked through a Sony EVF on a current model camera? The view very good and is not that slow, and in fact, I am hard pressed to even notice a delay. I do have a camera with an OVF and when using that camera, I feel at a disadvantage compared to the EVF.

And I seldom hold the camera at arms length (tourist style as I have seen with everyone in Hawaii). It's much better to use the EVF.

Most Mirrorless cameras come with viewfinders - the higher end models are huge. What do you not like about them? See I started out with Mirrorless and I could never go to an OVF - not being able to see what the exposer will be is going backwards for me.

I think it be the worth the wait to see what is released at the show. Then you would be making as best an informed decision as possible.

Considering the small difference in size but the huge difference in sellability, I don't know why more makers don't introduce FF sensor mirrorless bodies.

Check out Jason Lanier's you tube channel. He has several videos on using Canon lenses with Sony cameras, especially the A6300 and A7R2.
No focus delays and full function. Uses a Metabones adapter that costs about $375.

MetaBones makes full-function Canon mount SpeedBoosters and adapters for Micro 4/3 (Olympus and Panasonic) cameras, too.
