Canon full frame mirrorless?

I'm using a Canon 5D Mk3, 24-105, battery grip, GPS module. I would like to have lighter gear as I age so a full frame mirror-less body with internal GPS. Is Canon working on something along these lines? I know that Sony has a FF mirror-less body but I would like a Canon product.

Thanks, Sam

Unfortunately, Canon has not reached its highest degree in mirrorless camera technology as Sony, Panasonic, or Olympus. Brand loyalty isn't always best on certain items.

A new Canon mirrorless is expected this year, keep an eye on Canon Rumors, but not FF, APS-C

Some day we'll get a Canon FF mirrorless, and we will use it to shoot pigs in flight.

The first thing I started doing when I got tired of carrying such weight is I got rid of the Grip. This is bulky and heavy. I only got a grip because I thought it looked cool and more like a 1D type of body. To tell you the truth, the bodies that I've owned all took more than 800 images per charge on my battery and I never had a battery go dead on me in the middle of a shoot. Close, but not quite dead. It's easier to carry a spare battery in your pocket.

I too started leaving the battery grip at home. My initial reason was that it didn't fit in a smaller camera backpack. I like having all the relevant buttons on top when shooting in the portrait position but I don't do it often. I had no problem when I went recently on an African safari. BTW, 95% of my images were taken with the 70-200/4L + 1.4 extender combo. I shot at Av, usually at f10.

When you're interested in Canon Mirrorless to reduce bulk and weight you're consider buying new lenses too right. If Canon make the mirrorless it won't take the EF lens natively.

Bwahhhahahahhaha...canon working on mirrorless. Best laugh I've had all day...oh wait you were serious.

People have been waiting years for canon (and Nikon) to produce a serious mirrorless camera (aps-c or FF).

The m5 is supposed to be announced some time in mid September, but that won't be a FF camera, and I still have serious doubts that it will be better than Sony Olympus Panasonic or Fuji. Personally I can't wait for the em1ii. It sounds like they're going to revolutionalize mirrorless technology again with high Rez hand held and new geomembrane sensor. That'll be my FF in a much smaller format.

Since Hasselblad released its X1D medium format mirrorless it seems both Canon and Nikon may be working on similar products as the Hasselblad pricing is set to appeal to high end users of their products. Whether these projects come to anything remains to be seen, if in fact they are more than just normal evaluations these manufacturers regularly make.

Yup that's what I read. Either way I'm sure the af will be a dog like their other mirrorless solutions. It'll be a huge shock if it actually performs well.

Don't hold your breath for a canon mirrorless that's worth a damn. Buy a Sony and get used to it.
