This winter I'll shoot with my autoguider on the "Black Widow . Hopefully I'll be able to collect a lot more data this winter and be able to finish with something that kind of resembles you're pic from 2-3 years back but, that'll be hard to accomplish "that m42 is Stunning" awesome nebulosity and some awesome data you must of had. I couldn't use so much because had nothing but, star trails Poor alignment one session can just about blow your MOJO. I stacked in DSS and processed in PScs2, I've got a ways to go.

Wow I think you're complimenting my M42, I thank you.
I too have never been really happy with my post processing but now that I have nailed my guiding techniques I hope to
be able to get some really clear round stars and better definition. But then I'll have to improve my PP 10 fold. My new Celestron
CCD 8300 camera should give me a head start. Please keep up the good effort and have fun. I used to get really frustrated
when I had a bad night with tracking the camera or whatever. Now I just write it off to experience and enjoy the clear skies.

I'm just having a blast {no pun intended} when I'm out under a blanket of stars but, for over a month we.ve had a Bermuda high that's downright dreadful to be outside at night almost 80 * and humidity through the roof after mid to upper 90's during the day and severe drought . I'm a rookie to long exposure and yes, it can get pretty hairy at times when a step is forgotten and I have to take it back to step 1. I pray to the cloud and heat gods for a break soon, everything will be ok then Craig. If there's nothing to learn then it's not much fun and I'll get bored.
