One may purchase a Canon Pixma Pro-100 for $149.95 after rebate! Too good to be true? Has anyone experience this deal?

Yes. That deal has been going for years with different rebates. I got mine for about $100, with a pack of paper. When the ink runs out, it will be cheaper to buy another printer.

My brother who doesn't have a photo type printer, just an off the shelf desk top, came to that conclusion years ago. Fortunately my Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 is still going strong.

"Cheap" printers is always just a hook to get you stuck buying the ridiculously overpriced ink for them. It's a good printer though.

I just bought a slightly used (mostly in storage) Canon PIXMA Pro-9000 from a friend. Seems to print great. It was either that or I was thinking of the Pro-100 rebate deal. Though I do have to wonder as I do print B&W photographs and I understand the Pro-100 and Pro-10 do that better.

Note, the title is a bit misleading (to those not in the know), the PIXMA Pro-100 is not a "bargain" or "cheap" printer, only the price for this good deal is.
It is a good printer, MSRP $499.

It is a darn good printer for the money. I got the $300 card which works just like any gift card. Canon Inks for it are usually best price right under $100 for a CLI 42 set. I just bought a deal from Canon that was posted here on another thread -- full price on the inks, around $125, and $620 worth of paper free, with free shipping(rough numbers since I don't feel like digging out the bill). I'd recommend it if the promo is still running you have some spare cash. There is another recent thread that lists some good options for off brand inks that cost less, and how to make them work. The P 100 prints monochrome pretty well -- once in a while a faint pinkish cast. Hope you enjoy it!

Purchased a Canon Pro printer several years ago from our wonderful local photography store. They were selling these printers for $350.00 and had mail in a rebate for them for $350.00. Cost $000.00. Not sure if all the Pro models are just for photography, but that was what I needed. Good luck and happy printing.

I ordered mine about 7 months ago with a similar deal- $250 rebate. Printer is awesome and rebate AMEX card came several weeks later. Also included was 13x19 paper as a bonus. Be aware that the box is very heavy, and I recommend two people to move it.
