The higher the iso of the film the more light sensitive it is allowing you to use faster shutter speeds.Usefull for wildlife for birds and fast moving land animals (cheetas etc) since Minolta is kaput google camera manuals. there are lots of sites where you can order manuals even for cameras no longer inn production. Try linkinc.com you can print the manual for free if they have it. There are lots of good books out there on the basics of wildlife and lanndscape photography. If you go to amazon.com you will find used ones and save you some moola. good luck
