Went looking for a moose. I know, this is not a moose, was the best I could do.
I'm sure it was less dangerous.
Any idea what mind of bird?

Yes, it is a Ruffed Grouse. Picture was taken in southern Ontario.

Actually it is a female. She had young with her but they were to quick and small to get any pictures. They were only about the size of a golf ball. She is a defensive mode protecting her young. They went into the grass behind her. I was in my truck and they crossed the road. I rested my 70-200L f2.8 II on a 7d Mk II on top of my side review mirror.

Just go to Algonquin Park....they will make you wait while they stand in the middle of the road completely unconcerned of your presence.
Nice sharp shot. Good job!
Very nice capture, these birds are very hard to get close to!

Hey merrytexan, after 12 years, I did get pictures of a bull moose this spring. Will post picture after I figure out where to post it. Leitz didn't like me posting here, said it should be in the Gallery??? I am new at posting on UglyHedge.
