While kayaking around Dana Point Harbor in Southern California, I captured this sailboat heading out of it's slip towards the open ocean. It's home port is in San Diego. The first is the HDR image and the second is the medium exposure shot of the sailboat. I like the composition and coloring of the HDR image.
Hello.
I know how good you are with PP.
So... Can you do something with the sky in the HD photo? Don't like what it does to the boat mast, and where it connects to the land. And the top is really saturated.
Then let us know HOW you did your magic

I like the HDR photo the best.

Yep, HDR even with the sky problems. You must have been in a hurry to post this and be somewhere else, Brent.

Interesting photos, before and after, but there must have been a lot of lens compression; it looks as if he's about to put her on the beach.

Brent,
If the second image is the mid exposure then it is better for color details in the cliff face. The HDR adjustments seem to have washed out the brown earth coloration from the cliff and the brick fence in front of the building.

Well done on the HDR not over processed. I like it.

Nice images -- I like the hdr but agree with buddah 17 that the sky could use some help.

Thanks waltchilds for the 2 thumbs up!
Great shot Brent...I love HDR and must do more of it soon. How'd you get this shot bouncing around in a kayak? I always use a tripod.

Ok buddah17.......I aim to please. Please let me know if you like this better.........I desaturated the sky in "levels" and redid the mast all in Photoshop.

Thanks Carl......I agree with you. I know some people may want to see more of the earth color from the cliff but I like the desaturated look.......at least for now!

Thanks Shakey for your thoughts on this one. Maybe you like the new and improved "revised" image better?

Thank you JCam for your thoughts on this image. I did kind of flatten the image a bit with the 24-105mm lens........I think I had it on the full bore 105mm to do this. Please feel relieved that the sailboat never hit the beach though! lol
