Spent a week bumming around the Magdelan Islands of Quebec whose history goes back to the 1500's. A VERY special and unique place as you will see as FS goes on....The colours of the houses are a big part of their interesting history...Thanx Irene......

Nice set, chase. Plumeria is something I don't get to see. Beautiful.

Thank you Sher. Strangely, clotheslines are a pride of the Islands...real long ones and the winds dry the laundry horizontally
In the beginning of life on the Islands, people would whitewash ( lime?) their buildings to protect the wood, and oil was added to the whitewash. Then along the line Europeans, probably the English, were stuck with paint which was either no good or because of the colours, it would not sell. The Madelinots bought it and replaced the whitewash, but still only for the protection of the wood and the colours were not factor. However over the years these strange colours created a sort of competitive thing and so it became part of their culture and now today the competition is still going strong...believe me!
Been a "lean" photo week...but I saved a few for Free Sunday. It has been a very hot humid week. Tried to convey that when I processed a field of wildflowers and some grasses. Did some zooming and double exposures for layering.
The ocean was the only place to cool off...
Storm brewing
