East coast or west? Or both?
Iceberg finder.com may tell you where to find icebergs to photograph. Cape St Mary's for the gannet colony and south of St John's for whales and puffins.

I've never been there but I keep thinking I should - it's not really that far away. I'll be watching for all the pictures you bring back.

Enjoy and please post some images.
Had the opportunity to motorcycle Newfoundland years back....It is beautiful in its relatively untouched way. The people are very kind and trusting. Remembering a man there, who told me that the day he got his new car, he put the key in the trunk lock, and hadn't removed it since ! Make sure you get to the fjords up in the northwest area......and watch out for moose !!! :-) .....and by the way, learn to say "eh" after every sentence, eh !
Went to Newfoundland in the mid-80's in June; traveled from south to north on both coasts & only place we saw icebergs was L'anse aux Meadows. This was first place I used a 35 mm -- great experience!
Have a great time in Newfoundland. I too will be going in August for the second time. I am in love with the newfoundlanders. They are lovely relaxed people so don't be shy talking to anyone there. They have a lot of stories to tell. Our last photo trip there was to the east part and some of the central part. this time we are landing in Gander and only going to the central part. We fell in love with Fogo Island and Change Island. I highly recommend those two although not for birds, ( we are not bird photographers) but for the boats, stages (boat houses mostly red) etc. don't miss Trinity also a delightful town with a charming summer playhouse. also I recommend taking some food with you in your car as some of the towns are far apart and you may not have the opportunity to get something to eat ( and fill up with gas) depending where you drive. Hope you get a lot of icebergs although it is a bit late but I believe there are a lot more this year especially around Twillingate.
It is a crime to go for onlynone week. We were there for three weeks and it was not nearly long enough.
You could spend a week in Grose Morne National park alone. St Johns is worth another 3 or 4 days at least. There are countless small fishing villages that are very photogenic. Be sure to visit a few of them as well.
Dan -- I was born in St. John's, Newfoundland while my Dad was stationed at Pepperell in 1954. Now, I only lived there as an infant for 6 months, but I guess I'm still a "Newfie".

I spent about three weeks in Newfoundland about 10 years ago and my wife and I plan to travel there again next year. I echo everything others have said. Beautiful scenery and people. Gros Morne is very special. We envy you.
