'Hoop for Tips'

On the streets of Cincinnati I saw this girl do some tricks with several hula hoops for tips. Although, I didn't see anyone tip her. I was experimenting with hand held slow shutter speed. First image shot at 1/30th and second shot at 1/50th of a second.
C & C welcomed.

Nice, Dave. I like the baseball statue in the background of your second image.

Thank you Ralph !!! These were taken outside the Great American Ball Park and there are several statues there. I don't remember who that particular statue is though.

Interesting subject Dave. I'm a fan of motion blur so like your choice to use a slow shutter speed. Like the first shot as it includes her other hoop and the tip can adding the element that the girl is busking.

Dave, Former Cincinnatian, so this brings back a lot of memories. I liked your photos of the Opening Day Parade, and this of the Hula Hoop Girl. I think that may be a statue of Tony Perez. I remember him as a kid being interviewed after a big win saying that "I hit the grand salami" instead of slam. Funny how things stick in your mind. Thanks for the memories, great shots. Gary

Thank you Dan !!! I don't usually shoot street with a slow shutter speed but I thought I would give it a try since this was a good opportunity to experiment. I may give it another go in the near future.

Glad it brought back some memories for you gwong1 and thanks for the statue update. Tony Perez never came to mind but I do think your are correct. I miss the days of the Big Red Machine for I don't think there will be another.

My sentiments exactly about the Reds--and my sad sack Yankees. I fear those days are gone, and hell has frozen over--just look at the NL Central standings.

Nice photos, by the way. I like them both.

Thanks John !!! Yes, I agree days gone by. Baseball has always been my favorite sport, especially as a kid. I seem to have lost interest over the last 10 years or so. Mostly because of over paid salaries along with the love of the game just doesn't seem to be in the hearts of todays athletes.

Hi, Dave,
The blur of the passers-by in the first image is greater, by far, than that of your subject...in spite of her tossed hair.

The second image is a terrifically kinetic image and a great capture!

Thanks Dave, glad you enjoyed them. I may have to give this another try for, I too enjoyed the results.
