Hello all

I'm new to this forum.
Photography is a hobby but I've upgraded to a Nikon D7000 recently and love the results.
I've shot motocross races, scenery and great vacation pictures.
I'm up for criticism of the pics I post - would appreciate constructive comments on techniques or tricks to improve my skills.

Welcome to UHH, as you know photography is subjective and not all critiques are etched in stone! So with that said let me offer my opinion. #1has great composure but you have focus issues.
#2 is also a great capture but need some contrast adjusting.
#3 A greater DOF would have put more tulips in focus and made for an overall sharper photo!

The first photo has a lot of noise in it, and it appears there is some in the following shots as well. Perhaps you are using to high of an ISO.
Welcome to UHH where the info is free, so maybe it is not always the best.

Thanks all ... the motocross shots were tricky because it was a bright blue sky so no contrasting background.
For #1, I was using a different camera and have resolved the focus issue.
Thanks for your comments and for the welcome :))

I agree with Sirsnapalot.

Other than the focus in #1 the rest are either fixable in PP (#2) or personal preference (#3). I like #3 as is, but I would make a point of doing the same shot with greater DoF (bigger f#) to see how things shake out when I get them up on a monitor.

Welcome to UHH! I've learned a lot already.

Welcome to the forum. It's looking like you bumped up the red on #3, and maybe overall saturation. To me, it makes it look like the tulip blooms were pasted into the picture. Can't really tell if backing off on the red would help or not.

If you want people to critique your shots, you should include the original file when posting (click on the "store original" button next to the file name) - that way, we can take a closer look at the shot.

I know # 3 looks doctored but all I did was just a general auto level on Photoscape. That was how red the picture turned out.

I'm ok with critiques based on the shots I post without the original but may consider posting some if I had issues with getting it to look alright.

Thanks for the comment.
