Pulled the trigger and purchased the new Nikon D500 to add to my arsenal of cameras. Blessed to have an understanding wife! Great reviews for those who want to shoot sports. I had it overnighted. Will share some photos after my personal burn-in period and watching tutorials. Can't wait to shoot BIF! 10FPS and huge buffer. Excited for sure!~!~ Had to share with my UHH family.

Have fun! I'll be breaking in an FZ-200 next week when I go to Israel. I love BIFs too, but my favorites are the ones with afterburners :) My Sony w/lenses is too bulky and heavy (baggage restrictions). My parents winter about 100 mi north of you in Vebice. I don't think I've ever been to Naples.

Condolences on your recent loss, Trigger was a beautiful horse. But seriously, hope you will enjoy your D500 and great shooting as the reviews have indicated. Nikon's leading edge technology for the DX-mount. Looking forward to frequent image posting.

Do you golf? Try taking a burst of somebody's golf swing if you are. At one time I would have liked a camera like this for that purpose.

Thanks for sharing your excitement with us. Many of us know what the excitement feels like whenever we have purchased ourselves a new toy to play with. As long as you treat your loved ones equally, there's nothing wrong with treating yourself to something new every now and then too! :)

Show and tell seems to be an accepted practice here. Your post does not build on any useful information, does not clarify advantages or disadvantages of the camera outside your quote of 10FPS and a huge buffer and it's reputation for BIF (which has been pointed out in dozens of posts). The best part of your post is the part about your understanding wife, that is nice. I prefer posts that give actual information we can all use, like the post yesterday that gave the site to go to on the use of the D500 and recommended settings for BIF. Those posts are useful to the readers. Show and tell has their place in elementary school as a way of building self confidence and self worth, usually by the third grade students learn to harbor their desire for instant gratification and mature to a level of confidence that no longer requires show and tell. Congratulations on your purchase, I have heard good things about the camera.

After being with UHH for quite a few posts now I find it common to see members post things quite often about, The Big Brown Truck came today or The White Truck came today, delivering a new camera, lens, camera bag or something regarding cameras. As a large family involved with the world of photography most of us are happy the poster is getting something new. We are genuinely happy for them. That is a good thing. I can't help but wonder why you posted your post. With all due respect to you having a right to share your view point, you pretty much deride the gentleman for posting about the new Nikon D500 he bought and liken him to a 3rd grade student. I can understand you preferring posts giving lots of information useful to the readers, most likely technical information. What I can't understand from you and other posters on different topics is why you feel the need to say anything at all. Your post certainly offers nothing useful to anyone that I can see or relate too. At least the buyer of the D500 is offering us a share of his life, his happiness at purchasing a new camera. He does seem to post photos often enough that he will most likely post photos from the D500 as well. But that is after he receives it.

My good hearted suggestion to continue good will on the UHH forum would be if you see a post you don't agree with or like, then why not just move on to the next one to see if you like that one. Personally I see many photographs, posts, etc. that I either don't like or simply don't interest me in the slightest. I could waste a day just telling each poster why I don't like that photo or why I have no interest in them taking photos of NYC or Dallas or some place in Europe. But what a waste of my time and why spread hurtful feelings to a total stranger.

By the way I just purchased a new Leica M9 with a 28mm lens and a 50mm lens. I love the camera and lenses. Photos are everything I have wanted with sharpness normally attributed to Leica lenses along with vibrant colors. What a great purchase.

I bought a D500 a couple of weeks ago. I'm very impressed with it. They've added number of autofocus points to the list of functions that can be programmed to the preview, Fn1, and Fn2 buttons. I assigned single point autofocus to the preview button on the front of the camera. You may be in a situation where you're using a lot of autofocus points to track a subject but need to quickly switch to single point autofocus to pinpoint focus on a subject. By holding in the preview or Fn button you can instantly have single point autofocus or any of the options for number of autofocus points. I also programmed the virtual horizon to the Fn1 button. Try out some of those options.

Good job, Dennis. I agree with all that you've written and it is a shame that we have among us an UHH member who would like to have a forum that will conform to his ways of thinking !

In life, have you ever noticed how unfortunate it is that some men will choose to take a path that is hurtful to others, yet; more than likely, they, themselves, are the ones who are hurting and their most damning adversary is totally within ~ whereas facts have proven that these men are very much unhappy with themselves and their relationships with women, habitually, terminate being a shallow total sham. Too often people who berate and debase others do so to cover for their own inadequacies as well as they have a lacking of sound qualities that only precipitate destruction in their very own personal lives. Men as such, more often than not, neither have a wife nor do they have anyone of the female persuasion who really genuinely loves them. To compensate for this loss, you will often find grown men of this sort being self indulging, self centered, self absorbed, relentlessly finding a need to brag about themselves, and forever feeling the need to outdo others. To accomplish these things, such a person will often be seen driving a flashy car or a pickup truck with a lifted suspension with huge tires and if their mufflers aren't loud enough, they will find ones that are. Of course, men of all ages having anatomical deficiencies, will most definitely subscribe to likened themes and men as such will forever go out of their way to make the other guy to seem meaningless, ultimately insignificant and far, far less intelligent.
