Posted this weekend by a friend named Katie DeWinter. Thankfully, everything worked out. She was able to procure backup equipment.

"GR area photogs!! My cousin just called me and he's at a wedding at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. The photographer just fell into a pool with both of her cameras and they are in need of a backup / equip for photographer ASAP. The wedding ceremony is at 1 they are trying to do bridal party pictures right now. If anybody happens to be available and is close to Aquinas College please call or text me 269-680-7678 immediately. Thanks!"

I have done one or two wedding by pools. I have warned my assistants before they take a sep, when they are within 6 feet of the pool, pick you head up and look before you step. But............things happen. Wonder if someone caught her going for a dip?

PS, this is why I also bring backup to the two cameras I carry. Something alot of the brides I send quote to don't seem to appreciate. Not to mention my two assistants carry full frames. I would just take one of their's away and use it myself.

I stopped using my dual sling strap not too long ago, for the very same reason. Not that I fell in a pool, but a friend of mine did, and ended up dunking both cameras. Even though we have to run back and forth to switch out cameras sometimes, I think that's better than losing everything. Not so worried about my equipment, as I would be about missing part of a wedding.

I did about fall down a spiral staircase 2 years ago, (banged my Sigma 50-150 2.8 against a stone wall) and that still didn't wise me up about carrying all my stuff at once. Water is even more unforgiving than stone when it comes to electronics.

I was doing the single camera, backup in the Pelican, and switching lens. What a pain. Then i got a third camera and just dropped and picked up either/or. That was making me miss shots. The only thing I find on the harness is 26 pounds for 7-9 hours.

I am doing a wedding at the zoo today. Yes, I have thought about what I may back into ... Fortunately, just giraffes and wildebeests next to where the ceremony is taking place.
