I have been seriously into photography for 4 years. My goal, always is to capture emotion. I find emotion in all types of photographs. My dear husband is supportive and my sweet family is use to being dragged into my hobby. I have attached a few samples of my work.

Welcome. This is a great site with many helpfull and talented people. I love the look on the kids face in your first shot he looks like a mini me version of Dick Butkis. Just the greatest linebacker in Bears and NFL history. Your abandoned house shot was also excellant . There something sad about something thaat once was in its prime but now is aged and decayed. Kinda like me. I forgot to add with the abandoned house I would crop out that little sliver of roadway and some of the lawn. Anything in your viewfinder that doesnt contribute to the story of your photo crop out. Remember it is easier to crop in your viewfinder than having to do it later with software.

Welcome, I too, love the look on the kid's face in your first shot. You captured the emotion. The abandoned house shot is a reminder of bygone era. Last shot is sweet.
thanks for sharing.

Thank you, for the welcome, these are two of my grandsons an my son-in-law. The house is one I have been noticing for a few months. I seem to be drawn to old things.

Another welcome - always nice to see one willing to share their perspectives and views. It is obvious that you are taking pictures of subjects that you care about. I take very few people pictures just because I really have very few opportunities and I'm not sure if I could control any more variables; maybe one of these days. As to your old house photo I would suggest either a early AM of late PM shoot as you will get a softer light and maybe some defination in the sky. Often people like to have a close up of the details in such pictures as opposed the whole. Even though I seldom hesitate to air my opinion I fully understand that this is just my personal opinion that may be worth some where between a little and nothing. I have added a couple to show what I like to do in the area of not color and not black & white. I love all comments and once more- welcome to the site

DISREGARD -DUPLICATE

Seems I loaded the same dribble twice, no one should have to put up with that.

Hi Sheri and Welcome to the Forum.

Your pictures are beautiful. They are doing exactly what you want them to do, and that is to show emotion.

I agree with sinatraman about cropping the old house photo. If you crop out the curb stone and just show the grass it will give the house a more desolate appearance. Just a thought. :D

Thank you for the suggestions, I agree early or late would be better light, my schedule just doesn't always cooperate.

I like the idea of cropping out the curb too.
