All,
Looking for a simple way of sorting photos of runners by bib and pointing people to themselves instead of searching through a lot of pix
Any ideas?
RT
I put the bib number into a metadata field that can be used in renaming the file, then bulk rename the files using that field. Caption is a good choice. After rename, I clear out the caption field. If you have multiple runners in a file, then you can enter all the numbers in the caption field separated by comma. Then you need to do a little work to list all the file names for a given number.
Sounds like a FileMaker Pro database project to me...

Perhaps:
1. Enter bib numbers as keywords using your post-processing app. PhotoMechanic (
http://www.camerabits.com ) may be the best app for this.
2. Process photos with your post-processing app. (e.g. Lightroom).
3. Upload directly from Lightroom to a SmugMug (
https://www.smugmug.com ) gallery.
You can add new or edit old photos anytime and re-upload anytime from Lightroom.
4. Viewers can go to your SmugMug gallery and search by Keyword (e.g. bib#)
A SmugMug help page says "If you added keywords in a program like iPhoto or Photoshop before adding the photos to SmugMug, we'll do our best to find and automatically apply them. Specifically, we look for keywords in the IPTC keywords field." (
http://help.smugmug.com/customer/en/portal/articles/93290-how-do-i-add-titles-captions-and-keywords-to-my-photos-?b_id=1644 )
Depending on your SmugMug account and settings, viewers could purchase photos directly via SmugMug.
