Shot attached while waiting for a train. Would like to see how to enhance the rainbow!

Using PS CC:

Use Vibrance layer and a feathered use of black (hide) mask.

Suggestion for masking: Use 20% transparency on the white paintbrush that way you have a better control on where and how much the vibrance layer is applied.

You might want to post this in the post processing section so that folks can show you.

Using LR's Adjustments brush (well feathered), applied saturation and contrast to just the rainbow. Red orange and yellow needed strengthening so I added a WB shift towards yellow and a Tint shift towards magenta for that selection. After adding contrast to that selection, the darks in the rainbow were looking a bit too dark so for that selection I lightened the shadows just a touch to compensate . In addition I boosted saturation for red, orange and yellow in the HSL section, but in LR these have to be global adjustments so restraint is needed.
I also used a second brush to select just the red, orange and yellow of the rainbow, but they didn't need much more boosting.

Just as an afterthought, there doesn't seem to be anything particularly close in the foreground and the focus point doesn't seem to be close, so you could have dropped the aperture from f/36 to give a shutter speed faster than 1/40 and ISO 100 instead of 200. And at f/36, diffraction will have had a noticeable softening effect.

But none of that stopped it from being a very nice shot, and well composed .

Thanks to both of you! I don't use PS but I understand that it is a much more powerful program to deal with this. I use only LR and a bit of PS Elements so the comments will be very helpful in increasing my learning. The shot was just a snap as the train (which you cannot see) is coming and I was lucky to get this.

If you put a bit of practice into using LR's Adjustment brush, learning how to adjust the size and feathering to suit the application, learning when to use Auto Mask and when not -and learning to use the Erase mode in a similar way - you'll find that LR can do most of the basic editing that PS can (there are some obvious exceptions).

Thanks. And I appreciate the comments about the adjusment brush. I haven't used it much so I'll need to explore in more detail how to use it!

The way to do it, is to do it while you take the shot! That's best done with a PO filter!!
