Well I found a used Canon 100 macro a couple weeks ago at a local camera store. I decieded that if I was going to get into macro then I really needed to have something that could really do the job. So here are some of my pics. I'm sure they will improve with practice. All were taken with a Canon T2i and 100mm macro lens

We welcome you to the True Macro-Photography Forum. We understand that you are just learning, and we want you to understand that you have posted close-up photos, not macro-photographs. A true macro-photograph is 1:1 magnification (life-size). The best way to capture a macro is to set your 100-mm lens to MANUAL focus, fully extend lens (to closest focus), then move entire camera & lens in-&-out to focus subject. At true 1:1 magnification (life-size), your Working Distance (between lens front element and subject) will be about 160-mm = 6.3-inches.

Please re-submit only macro-photographs to this forum. Your close-up photos can be posted to the Photo Gallery Forum.

yous 2nd bee is a good shot, probably could be cropped to be macro but if your not close your not using your macro as a macro.also if you can shoot 90 degree side ways and the whole bug will be in focus not just the head.keep on shooting.tom

Good first attempts. Lighting is always a big issue, and I struggle with this also. Natural light can be good, but sometimes you'll need some artificial help, especially in the shade. The more photos you take the better you'll get as you figure out the best way for you to get sharp focus.

I think you'll like that lens. It's a keeper.

There's another ongoing thread on macro equipment setups that illustrates what some of these guys are using.
