My new (refurbished) 6D just arrived! I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow, so was very happy when Fed Ex delivered it this morning around 9:30 AM. I've noticed the menu interface is a little different than on my 7D Mark II. Instead of having, for example, a Camera tab with several sub-tabs, like the 7D2, the 6D has multiple camera tabs, multiple playback tabs, etc. Similar but not exactly the same. I also noticed right off the bat that this camera feels just a tad smaller and is noticeably lighter than the 7D2.
I just popped on my 24-105 f4L and noticed right away how much wider the wide end is and how much you give up with a crop frame camera! I can't wait to get this thing out on a decent day and try some landscapes, street shots, etc. I may put on the 300 f4 and try some bird shots as well.
Since this was a refurb, I was interested to see what the shutter out was. I've seen some people talk of very low shutter count on refurb cameras. This one had a shutter count of 482 out of the box. I've heard of lower on reforms, but I'm ok with 482. Heck, I've shot more than that on a sing;e day with my 7D2.
I picked up my used 6D with a 495 shutter count, happy with that. I too noticed the difference from my 7Dmk11. Enjoy. : :D

Santy Claus just photo-bombed you with new gear and you find an excuse to think this is not a "decent" day? Put on your pants and go shoot! If someone just handed me a box with a new camera in it the weather would be my first "album" shoot if that was all that was offered. 482 shots sounds as though someone tried this camera and found it to be too much for them to handle. It's your challenge now, go get your kicks with it, but to hell with the weather, go shoot! We'll expect a full report on the evening news. "Decent" day? Geeesh!

LOL Actually I did go out in the yard and do some shooting already, but when I say "decent day," I mean I can't wait for a day with better lighting conditions. It's just very drab, rainy and foggy here today.
Congrats, maybe this weather will clear up and we can all go back to shooting. I was shooting a softball game Saturday and the stopped it for lightning. I had already put up my 5Diii thinking it might rain and was using my 7Dii when the downpour hit. Right after I got to the truck the ground was covered in pea size hail.
Hey Basil, if you don't post this as a Big Brown Truck story....., how ya gonna piss off and irritate the Highway Patrol!!??

Thanks. I will get out and do some serious shooting soon I hope. Want to take a trip up to Ten Rocks park with the wife soon too!

Probably nothing until Christmas - then I have my eye on a 16-35 f4L
I also have a 6 D and 24-105 L. I have had it about 18 month. I added a BG-e13 Battery grip with Kirk L bracket and it feels really balanced.
I hope that you enjoy as much as I do.

Very cool. I have a grip with my 7D M2. Not familiar with the Kirk L bracket. I'll have to look that one up.
Kirk is simply a brand. The L bracket lets me quickly go from horizontal to vertically shooting and keep the camera at the center of the tripod axis. Less chance of it falling.

Adding an L-bracket and a battery grip balance nicely lenses that have some weight and allow making shots in portrait a pleasure with or without a tripod.
Is that an Arca-Swiss type mount that is on the bottom and side parts of the bracket?
