In Hiding

I know I am opening myself up to some interesting observations on the size of my brain and other attributes but I have always been curious as to why some UHH members choose to be "in hiding" and there must be a number of reasons. But personally I cannot think of any. Exact addresses would be too much information. But if someone says "Northern California" I doubt I could track that person down if I wanted to. Or could it be that annoying marketers would find a way to send me overtures? I have not been tracked down or contacted in any way even though my city and state are in my profile. Looking forward to your responses. And thanks.

Many people just don't realize that they can change that option when they first sign up.

Also, if you care to hear even more about it, here's a list of the topics involving that subject:

You aren't the only one wondering about that :D

Once using a the 'location' in addition to the EXIF info I tracked down a UHH user to the point of being able to google earth a picture of his house...

So, Confidential? Should be unless, as you do, use only a state and not a city.

I list two locations, one where I am most of the time and one where I am when I'm not at the other. To me it gives anyone who cares a locational reference that could be useful in conversation. As for EXIF data, it can be edited.

My humble opinion to why many folks don't enter a location is they don't see a relevance to entering one. Others probably have some deep seeded paranoia and don't want to supply any information that may aid in identifying them or they believe they are far more relevant than they really are. Then there's your garden variety jerks who hide behind their keyboards, but I choose to believe they are few in numbers.

Thx, posting this has led me to many other discussions. Did not know-just was curious about "in hiding". Now I know more.

Some folks just don't see what difference it makes. Just like some folks don't put posts like this in General Chit Chat. - Dave

I didn't even know how to list a state, or location, when I joined the forum. Someone posted "another one in hiding". I had to ask how to list a location, before I listed KS. I should have listed "close to the end of the world"..... 'Kansas'
