Anybody have experience with putting these lenses on your phone? Claims ( of course ) are that they turn your smart phone into a DSLR. Right. But how well do they work? On sale for big discount today.

They are using a LOT of poetic license.......
They are just diopters that you put in front of the camera.
They will not work well if you have the phone in an Otter Box as the lens is designed to be RIGHT in front of the camera (qv. take the phone out of the case for best results). Centering them over the camera may take a test shot or two. They kinda work.

I've read articles that this lens is going to make DSLR cameras obsolete.

Personally I wouldn't waste my money. Will they help your phone shot RAW, or increase pixels. Will they allow manual setting of aperture. It's a gimmic .

They're for real! The "Smart Lens" does not use the phone's camera, it uses the phone for it's smart display and memory. The two devices have to link up via NFC so they're communicating with each other, then the phone's screen is showing you what the lens is seeing....

Very interesting, still looks like they are going after a speciality market. Also does not seem to be any user settings, it's all auto

They may be of a higher quality than the typical smartphone add-on lenses; however, the sensor size on the phone remains the real obstacle to any claim it turns a phone into a DSLR. However, there is the allure that you won't feel it necessary to carry around 40 lbs of stuff and a $400 tripod.

And the sale price of $56 is much closer to an appropriate price. WTH - give it a shot. I'm thinking about it.

I suspect so. In the same way Kodak Brownies did.

Note, I did infer I'm not a complete fool... so, no snide remarks. M'kay?
