Pretty much nailed it...tools, filters, etc,etc,...the files I send them are not flattened, for several reasons. One being they have the right to re-edit...Some belong to them and the deal is they get it back either in PSDs or Tiffs with layers. If it's their work/photos I'm editing, I don't have a problem, if it's mine, they don't get the layers /originals. Who they are...Art directors, Designers and Printers. I go through the same thing with Cad files not being backwards compatible.
And yes, I don't like getting rid of older programs that I paid for...unless I need the space on the drives, usually not a problem these days. Not a pack rat, just kills me to let something go that at one time cost big bucks. Like all my old Nikon F2A's and AI lenses. Sitting on the shelves collecting dust..(not really, keep um covered. :)

You edit RAW files. They may be leading you along. Does not seem correct or possible to me. Who are your clients that they even open your files with Photoshop or Lightroom, to print perhaps? Not at a print shop, the only issue there should be color space or bit depth.

If you are doing what you seem to be saying you better stop at Windows 7. Win 10 would not be happy.

They send me the raw files...which I then edit. I send everything back, I get paid,....done

I already stopped Win 10 from trying to load....unfortunate when they stop supporting 7, we'll have no choice.[/quote]

I continually am stopping Win 10! Do you know just how long we can keep safely using Windows 7 into the future? Have you ever heard from anyone?

Can you explain this to me? On my Win 7 Computer, I installed, stand alone, purchased, LR-6. Afterwards, I see on my computer, information regarding LR-CC. It is as though, I ALSO have, CC.
(And also, Mobile.) The CC, confuses me! The LR-"CC" has even been listed in my Start Menu.

Does it come with, the LR6 stand alone, purchase?

Also, WHAT EXACTLY, is the difference, between the two, (LR6 & CC)?

Do you, use an external hard drive, to store all of your images on?

What is the best way, to get all of my images, which are now, all stored on my C:\ drive, over to, my new external hard drive?

Do I Cut and Paste them all, folder by folder? OR, do I have to, Drag and Drop them all? I would Prefer to, cut and paste them if I could?

Which way, do you, think, is easier?

Thank you very much, for all of your advice. I really appreciate it.

I will answer part of your question . My photos are stored on external HD I just combined 3 HD into one . I moved the files from within LR by clicking on the folder and dragging it withinLR to the new location. This way LR Know where the photos are

Yup, I agree...I can see LR-6 but when I try and launch it, LR CC opens...tried on 2 computers...Maybe I should uninstall all but 5...install 6 then CC. Humm...I tried calling Adobe, No phone support for Light Room. No matter what choice I made on their system.

Don't forget what I told you...on my Virgin PC...I installed a store bought program of LR6 and the next thing that I knew, LR 6 AND LR CC were both on my computer and I'm now trying to understand why and what the CC is?

Be advised that there is a tech support number for Adobe Lightroom CC. I found it after very very very much searching and great difficulty 3 weeks ago. I carelessly wrote it down on a scrap of paper at the time which has been misplaced. I am going to attempt to get the number again and to locate that paper as I throw nothing out. If I locate the number I will post it. I came upon it through an offshoot of the Adobe Lightroom Troubleshooting page.

Me either, yet I can if I want...uninstall it, after install had asked if I want to launch LR6, it opened LR CC...not what I need or want. As far as Visual C++, I know its a programing language, It was part of my computer science program in school. Was just curious as to why is was installing when it's already on my machines and up to date.

I'm wondering if LR6 and CC can reside on the same machine. I am thinking (guessing) that they have very similar code and may be some confusion.

What features does LR-CC have that are Not available in LR-6(stand alone)?
Thank you.

I know there are differences, but to be specific, couldn't tell you, haven't gotten that far yet nor do I have the time to track it down. What I can tell you is what my customers tell me, If I edit it CC, and they only have the standalone version, When I send their raw photo back with XMP file...they have problems.

I'm sure it's way off, to stable a platform...and too many refusing 8 &10. If I had to guess, 3-5 years. MS will let you know when they plan to stopp support as they did with XP. I think that warning lasted better than a year.

I have the #, and have called several times and tries from sales to tech support, all with the same ending result...the problem is when you go through the menu, and the last choice (being all others doesn't include LR) it says all other assets please visit our website for assistance...which means LR, any version including LR CC

Yes, if you install LR 6 first then purchase a CC plan, I do believe both will work independently... not the other way around. Haven't tried it (uninstalling my CC suite that is) and don't plan to (to many presets and re configuring) unless Adobe pisses me off enough to dump them all together.
