I think this might be the first time I've peeked into this section. BUT, I figured if it had THAT many managers it was either really good or it really SUCKED!! LoL
Since it's my first foray into here, let me explain myself.
First, I'm an in your face type of shooter. My subjects are usually very close and KNOW they are being shot. If there is no danger you could get the camera ripped out of your hands and slammed onto the street, then what's the point? I'm not a 200mm type of shooter! I'm gonna take the shot whether they want me to or not!
Secondly, I like to have some interaction between the subject and me, more of an informal portrait than a candid. I'm not a very candid type of guy.
Plus, I have as TON of street, I just have to start to find it
So with that introduction I'll post my first pic here....
This shot was taken during the world series when SF played the Texas Rangers maybe 5 years ago. I'll have to find the original file to see if any of the surrounding street is worth posting. He turned out to be friendly instead of wanting to shoot me!!
I think this file is only 1500 wide, so it's small. ;-)
Thanks, SS

Good vibes from this photograph.
I just wonder if he is just "stirring" the local by wearing a rangers cap.
:-)

I didn't ask him, but I'm sure the hat is a gag!!
But hey, he's wearing a gun, who's gonna tell him to take it off!!! ;-)

Two things I like about your post Steve, first is that the guy is really engaged with you and the camera, that gives the picture great impact.

... Now there was a second thing... ah yes... it's that you like to get in close. I'm all for that, unless you are prepared to get within arms length, punching distance, then you ain't no street photographer :D

Super street image, SS.
I realize this was in SF, but for one with deep PA roots that cop has a classic Philly "addytood"!
By all means, let's see some more! Dave

SS, he has the appearance of a nice friendly no BS kinda cop. Nice capture. Fits here very well.

Thank you for giving us your perspective (definition?) of "street" shooting. May not be meaningful to others, but 'tis t' me.

Hey, SharpShooter, you grabbed a winner for sure! I have a feeling the officer might have, possibly, inhaled some type of relaxation shortly before you clicked your shutter? Of course, he probably was bemused to see you kneeling down to get a good angle. By the way, since I'm an 89-year-old square, please tell me what the hand signal denotes???

Richard, Thanks..., a compliment coming from you has some teeth in it. I've been enjoying your vintage pics here since that first day you told the story of losing that contest to Dennis Stock of James Dean fame!!!
This hand signal means, "hang loose" but it's usually done using the thumb!!. It's a surfer salute here in the States that has it's roots in Hawaii where I think it goes way back in Hawaiian culture. Or maybe it was one game each, not sure.
Most of us are no less square than you are since most of us are all in our 60's+!! LoL, heck we still think saying "cool" is still "cool"!!
I shoot a lot of Models and when I take a shot they really love, they always get all excited and say, "that is so DOPE"!! Meaning "excellent". Now you know another word!

I prefer "Very well played sir"! It comes from that fine game of cricket and is used when a batsman executes a shot with particular finesse :-D

From what I understand about cricket, the game is more like a game of chess than a game of baseball.

Should you ever watch a baseball game with a championship-level baseball player or coach (who can teach), you'll probably find that baseball is like a game of chess, as well.
