Royal Air Force bombing raids in March, 1945, destroyed Munich's National Opera House. Eventually other opera houses were restored and opened for American servicemen, Allied civilian workers, and Germans with passes. The biggest problem was finding singers and musicians who were denazified. Some were imported from Switzerland.
