Any Gx8 users out there? Feedback for landscapes? Feedback for action shots? And are you using with Panasonic lenses or Olympus lenses?
I have read that this camera does not play well with Olympus lenses- (not sure if it refers to Olympus lenses without IS or all) -can anyone address that?
Does the Pany dual IS system work with any 4/3 lens that has IS or just with Pany lenses?
I am considering the camera but I have 2 Olympus lens that I would like to keep and use with it- 45mm and 12-40 mm 2.8. I am also considering the new 100-400 mm lens- ouch!!
Thanks for the feedback. I looked at consumer reviews but the above was hinted at and not really addressed in detail.

I'm posting because I'm watching the camera too. I don't own one (yet). I want one for 4K video, a mic input, weather sealing, higher usable ISO, improved stabilization, etc. I shoot both stills and video clips.

The dual IS system works only with most Panasonic lenses. For example, my 14-140 will work if I update the firmware. My 100-300 won't because there is no firmware upgrade for it. However, the in 100-300 internal IS will continue to work.

I don't know for sure about Oly lenses, but my understanding is that Oly lenses without internal IS will work with the GX8 in body IS. Oly lenses with IS will not communicate with the "dual" firmware.

I'm watching the 100-400 too. It is weather sealed to go with the GX8 weather sealing. That counts because shooting outdoors frequently involves weather. My hope is that it is sharper than my 100-300. There have not been many trials of the 100-300. One last week was at dpreview and the shooter was hand holding at relatively slow shutter speeds. An 800 mm equivalent lens is not likely to perform its best hand held. Tripods do count.

I'm not sure who's reviews you are reading but if interested, go to YouTube and watch the video about the gx8 from "The Camera Store" - they will tell you everything you want to know.

Thanks for the information especially regarding the dual IS system. I will check out the dpreview link.
It would be nice to see and handle the camera in person but as has been discussed before camera stores (in my area anyway) carry Nikon and Canon almost exclusively.

You need to read Daniel Cox's blog. He's a National Geographic (and other magazine) photographer. He uses two Panasonic LUMIX GH4s, a GX8, a G7, and a battery of Panasonic and Olympus lenses to photograph wildlife all over the globe. He does 90% of his work with Micro Four-Thirds cameras!

I have my eye on both the GX8 and the Olympus Pen-F bodies, since lenses are compatible with the LUMIX GHx series. But I may get a GH5 when it's available, instead.

Except that those 2 guys from TCS handle all cameras vs some Joe Schmo who is really not an expert. I'd much rather get the info from qualified shooters but that is just me. Also Burk's suggestions is a good one.

Thanks. There are MANY video reviews of the GX8 by prominent video bloggers. Lots of good press...

Also check out the Lumix Lounge at http://lumixlounge.com

Do note that the "shutter shock" issue mentioned in early reviews seems to be limited to certain lenses (14-140, which I'd avoid for all still photography anyway — It's intended to be a video lens) and is addressed in Firmware 2.0 upgrade...

It is hard to find an m43 camera in this price range that does not work quite well. Panasonic has reached a new plateau with the GX8 and its Dual IS system. Be careful when buying Leica and Panasonic IS lenses to choose those with upgradeable firmware, so you can get the best of both worlds — in-body PLUS in-lens stabilization.

I saw some images from the Pen-F body posted by a Flickr friend
that looked good- had an indescribable quality that was very pleasing. I will look at Daniel Cox's blog- thanks for the information.

Aren't you using an em1 now?

User reviews are slowly showing up on the 100-400. There was an interesting comparison between it and the 50-200swd with the ec20. I'll see if I can find them...I believe it was over at mu-43.com

This talks at the very end about the gx8 and the 12-40...I would imagine that the 45 would be the same

http://www.mirrorlessons.com/2015/09/09/panasonic-gx8-vs-olympus-om-d-e-m1-sensors-and-stabilisation/

I'd miss the live composite features if I went to Panasonic, but seeing that neither of your bodies currently have that, it's probably not a deal breaker for you. I did find it interesting that the gx8 and em1 have a similar footprint. I thought the gx8 was way smaller than that.
