Just returned from an unbelievable 11 days traveling to about a dozen of the Galapagos Islands. I took several thousand shots and my wife took a couple of thousand too. Just amazing ever direction we looked.
This Red-Billed tropic bird has a decent tail but some of them grow much longer.

Same bird from above. Beautiful markings on the back you can only see when shooting from a cliff.

Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! You are making me miss those islands way too much.
Seriously, though, that is one of my favorite birds from that trip. The length of their tails was really something to see.

Great photos! On my bucket list.
Thank you all for you nice words (and thumbs). This was just but one of hundreds of species we saw. For sure I could spend many hours just one one single bird like this, trying to capture its graceful lines. So many possibilities, so little time.

I know this is kind of early (for me) and late (for you), but I am going to be cancelling a vacation to Ireland this summer and re-booking for Peru next summer (13 days). I was considering a 6-day post-trip extension to the Galapagos Islands. There are two trips - one North central and one east and each covers 2 or 3 different islands. Any opinions on where to choose? Someone else mentioned weight/size limits, too. I have 2 DSLRs and several lenses to choose from.
