I'm 72 years old - Hard to remember things ...
Should I forget thinking about learning photoshop ?
I feel like I'd be wasting my time and money - Duh ....
C-R-A-Z-Y Question ....
Try it for free for 30 days, then it's $10 a month thereafter for LR and Photoshop. Honestly, I use LR 90-95% of the time and the rest is photoshop or other programs.
PhotoShop is like Microsoft Office, in the sense that very few people use more than 10% of the functions. But, not everyone uses the same 10%. If you are unhappy with what you are using now, don't be afraid to give it a try. With the monthly rental they now use, you can quit whenever you want without much expenditure.
Most of my photos go through four or five basic steps and done. But when they need more, I can do it with PhotoShop, even if I have to look for a tutorial to find out how.

I purchased LR couple years ago but pretty much gave up on it - Your suggestions are great ! Never thought about the monthly thing ....

I purchased LightRoom also, but found it more confusing than PhotoShop. Photoshop doesn't try to manage my files, all I need is Windows Explorer for that. PhotoShop just lets me do what I want.
But, most people seem to like LightRoom, so what do I know? Give them a try and let us know what you think. I might be asking you for some lightroom tips.

There are many Photoshop books and tutorials around. I would suggest you start with any of the Scott Kelby books and then later graduate to Willmore's.

C-R-A-Z-Y Question ....
No!!!!
Learning something new will only keep you sharp. Please, don't approach learning anything with "this will be difficult". Approach it with the feeling that if others can do this, I can too.
Take small steps and build on those. Pretty soon, you'll be working in PS and not realizing that a lot of things you are doing almost as if you'd known how for your entire life.

You are never too old to learn. You will love what it can do for your images. Try it free for 30 days. I would suggest start with Lightroom first.

I have been using P/S since version 7 now using CS6 IM 76 yrs old and still learning.
Seems like CC is the way to go these days, damned sight cheaper than CS6. Try it you might like it.
AS to light room , never really gave it a thought, I use the KISS method.
