Tanya & Denise on a cold night in New Orleans
Beautiful image, Minnie .. if only you had stepped to the right that pole would not be obstructing the view of the gentlman and whoever he is engaging with. I like the post work. It seems to be your style and it suits this image well.
A great street photography image, Minniev. I traveled to NOLA on business (and occasional pleasure) for many years and have great fondness for the city and its eclectic environment. Warm memories.

Oh, this an excellent image. This would also look great in b&w. Yes, the pole is a distraction but as it stands it is what it is. Good job !!!

A really lively street image Minnie, the pole doesn't bother me one bit. If I stood there observing that scene it is what I would see.
Graham
Would not change a thing Minnie, well done. Hope you had your bodyguard with you. At night in the French Quarter????

That's an incredibly beautiful image both technically and emotionally. I wish there was sound!
Such DOF and high tonal range (without HDR), I'm guessing you shoot in RAW. I'd love to know how much PP you did on this.

Night shots are very special, and this is a good example. If you try to remove too many imperfections you lose the reality of the shot. Perfect as is!
Phil
I like it very much.
The pole is a bit of a distraction for me.

I like it the way it is. To me, the pole helps frame the subjects. The guy on the left lets us know there is stuff going on but not enough to distract me from the center. Anyway, that's just me.
The street music scene makes me a little homesick for Austin, Texas.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I shoot raw-only, I need all the leeway available in my little m43 camera! I use the panasonic 20mm prime when I shoot street so I can pick crazy settings like this (f1.7) and still get something useable. Light PP on this one (though I'm a PP freak who enjoys experimenting), a hit of NIK tonal contrast on a layer at maybe 40% opacity over the original, just to get a little gritty detail. Good light on that corner helped, since I don't use flash.
Yes, better with sound. Here's a link if you want a sample. They are amazing. Apologies for the UHH spellchecker which "corrected" Dorise's name.

Nice capture of the innate spirit of NOLA. New Orleans is a natural treasure and your image helps tell the story.

I did not even notice the pole until you pointed it out. It still does not bother me. I agree about BW though--I would like to see a BW version.
Thanks to all who liked this one:
Pole - New Orleans French Quarter is full of poles, I accept them as part of the environment and often include them on purpose for that same reason. The dancing man wasn't engaged with anyone in particular but he did sometimes glance around to see if any of the passing ladies seemed interested.
Black and White - I tried it and it wasn't what I hoped for, lost more than I gained with it. Would probably have had to capture it differently to do better with the conversion. Haven't tried converting it in anything but Ps and silver efex though, sometimes I can get more with Tonality Pro so may give it a go there.
